From Justin to Kelly was released in 2003 and bombed at the Box Office. The movie is about two people who meet during spring break, and they fall for each other. The movie stars Kelly Clarkson, Justin Guarini, Katherine Bailess, Anika Noni Rose, Gregory Siff, Brian Dietzen, Jason Yribar, and Theresa San-Nicolas.
I thought From Justin to Kelly was a decent movie. It was nice and short. It clocks in around eighty-one minutes. It started to feel slightly tedious right at the end, but the movie was over by the point. If it had gone on a little longer it would have felt like too much. There is not much of a plot. It is a very basic plot about Justin and Kelly who meet during spring break. The big selling point for the movie is the fact that it stars American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson and runner up Justin Guarini. This came out a year after Kelly Clarkson had won American Idol. It was part of their contract with the show. Kelly Clarkson had stated that she was contractually obligated to do the movie. I didn’t know what to expect when watching From Justin to Kelly. I was aware it was a huge bomb. I was kind of expecting it to be a stupid movie. It was better than I expected but it was not a great movie.
What makes From Justin to Kelly a decent movie is the music. I was not aware that the movie was a musical. I never got that vibe from seeing the ads for the movie. This was also over twenty years ago. Maybe I just didn’t notice. The music was catchy. There were a few funny moments. The cast does a decent job. I thought Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini did a good job. It seemed that they played versions of themselves especially since their characters were named Kelly and Justin.
From Justin to Kelly is not a heavy movie. There was not much character development. More time was spent on the music. Even though it came out a few years before, From Justin to Kelly felt similar to the High School Musical movies. Even the ending of From Justin to Kelly felt similar to High School Musical 2. To be honest, From Justin to Kelly felt like a Disney Channel movie.
From Justin to Kelly is a decent movie with catchy music. It is set during spring break, and it feels like a spring break movie.

I came here from an ad on tumblr. I read this review and then went and read a number more.
I appreciate your overall positivity when approaching movies and shows, and the tone of neutrality and staying largely focused on facts. It gives me a good idea of the movies/shows I haven’t seen, and gives me a good base to understand your opinions (and I appreciate the warnings when there’s spoilers).
It’s also just cool to see someone looking back at movies from 20 years ago.
