Death Becomes Her was released in July 1992 and is a dark comedy about an aging actress who drinks a potion to regain her youth. The film stars Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis, and Isabella Rossellini.
I thought Death Becomes Her was a fun movie. It was released when I was two years old. It looks like a 90s movie, but I thought it held up pretty well today. The cast does a good job. Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn have good chemistry. Bruce Willis stood out a lot. I am used to seeing Bruce Willis in action type roles and this was a different character for him. I thought he did a great job with the role. The movie has a basic plot. There are not many twists and turns. The fun of the movie is the shenanigans between the characters.
The movie is a good length. It’s not too long. It clocks in a little over 100 minutes. The effects seem a little dated, but they do hold up pretty well.
Death Becomes Her is a fun dark comedy with a great cast. Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Willis all do a fine job, and they have great chemistry together.
Venom: The Last Dance sees Eddie and Venom on the run from Venom’s creator who was imprisoned by all of the symbiotes. The film stars Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Clark Backo, Stephen Graham, Peggy Lu, Rhys Ifans, Alanna Ubach, Hala Finley, Dash McCloud, Jared Abrahamson, and Cristo Fernandez.
I thought Venom: The Last Dance was a good movie. I enjoyed it. I liked the first Venom but was not a fan of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. I enjoyed Venom: The Last Dance a lot more. Tom Hardy does a great job as Eddie Brock, and I like the relationship between Eddie and Venom. That is really the heart of the story.
The rest of the cast does a good job. Tom Hardy is really the one that shines the most. There are not many characters in the movie. Some characters seem a bit random, but it seems to work for the movie. For Marvel aficionados and fans of any of the films, there is no multiversal explanation about Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rhys Ifans’ characters. Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Karl Mordo in Doctor Strange. Rhys Ifans played Dr. Curt Connors aka The Lizard in the Amazing Spider-Man and reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Whether their characters in Venom: The Last Dance, are variants of their past roles remains to be seen. In fact, the multiverse is not really dealt with at all in The Last Dance. The focus is more on Eddie and Venom’s relationship and learning more about Venom’s creator.
The movie can be silly at times. As hinted at in the trailers there is a dance scene between Venom and Mrs. Chen played by Peggy Lu. It’s fun and silly and a little bit random but that seems to be part of the Venom charm. There have been complaints in the past from some audience members in regard to Venom trying to copy Deadpool when it comes to the humor. There may be similarities however, I think it works fine. The Venom movies are meant to be fun comic book movies. It doesn’t necessarily take itself too seriously.
Even though this is billed as the final film in the Venom trilogy, there are two credit scenes. There is a midcredit scene and a post credit scene.
Venom: The Last Dance is a satisfying conclusion to a rocky trilogy. I personally enjoyed Venom but did not care for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The heart of the story is Eddie and Venom’s relationship. It will be interesting to see what happens next with the characters. A big question is now that this franchise is over, will Tom Hardy finally get to share the screen with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Another big question is what will happen to the Sony Spider-Verse going forward? Could there ever be a Venom 4? Maybe. If the other Sony Spider-verse movies continue to perform poorly then there is a good chance a Venom 4 might become a reality. There was never a really clear picture of what Sony wants to do with their Spider-verse. This movie does not really help make it any clearer.
I enjoyed Venom: The Last Dance. I thought it was fun and it gets emotional at times. It’s a good final chapter for the characters. I would like to see Tom Hardy hop over to the MCU properly and meet up with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
John Tucker Must Die was released in 2006 and did alright. It is about three ex-girlfriends who team up to get revenge on John Tucker. The movie stars Jesse Metcalfe, Brittany Snow, Sofia Bush, Ashanti, Arielle Kebbel, Penn Badgley, and Jenny McCarthy.
I thought John Tucker Must Die was a fun movie. It has a fun premise, and it has a likeable cast. I have wanted to see John Tucker Must Die for a while and have finally gotten around to it. It’s cool for me to watch it now and to see where the cast has gone since. The movie was released in 2006 a year after Desperate Housewives had premiered. Jesse Metcalfe was known as John Rowland the teenage gardener who had an affair with Eva Longoria’s character on the show. The movie opened a year before Penn Badgley went on to star on Gossip Girl and the Netflix series You. I also had no idea Penn Badgley was in the movie either. That was a nice surprise.
John Tucker Must Die was a nice length. It clocks in around ninety minutes. It has a fun soundtrack that fits with that type of movie. The cast does a good job in their roles. It was nice to see Sophia Bush play a different type of character. Sophia Bush was best known and is still best known for her role on One Tree Hill. Her character was a cheerleader on the show. It was nice to see Sophia Bush play a character who was a not a cheerleader especially given the movie was filmed while the show was on.
John Tucker is a fun movie with a good cast. It has a fun premise and has a unique ending for this type of movie. It doesn’t go the way one would expect. There have been recent talks of a sequel moving forward. I would be interested in a sequel as long as the original cast is involved.
Sine City: A Dame To Kill For was released in 2014, nine years after the first movie was released. Sine City: A Dame To Kill For is based on the graphic novels that sees interweaving tales of old and new faces of Sin City. The movie stars Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Josh Brolin, Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rosario Dawson, Eva Green, Powers Boothe, Dennis Haysbert, Ray Liotta, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Christopher Lloyd, Jaime King, Juno Temple, Stacy Keach, and Jamie Chung.
I saw Sin City years ago. I have finally gotten around to watching Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. I did like Sin City when I saw it. I thought Sin City: A Dame To Kill For was interesting. The movie is shorter than the first one. The first one was a little over two hours. This one is a little over a hundred minutes. Toward the end of the movie, it felt a bit long. I was a little bored too. The movie felt a little weird. The first movie was odd but that was part of the charm. This movie seemed a bit weirder this time around. The cast does a good job. Once again there was a good ensemble. There were some differences. Some characters were recast for various reasons. Manute played by Michael Clarke Duncan, is played by Dennis Haysbert in this movie. Micael Clarke Duncan passed away before the movie filmed. One casting change that did not make sense was swapping Devon Aoki out for Jamie Chung as Miho. Even Josh Brolin as Dwight made sense from a story point. Clive Owen played the character in the first one.
Since City: A Dame to Kill For bombed when it was released whereas the first movie did fairly well. I am not that surprised after watching the movie. It seemed too much time had passed when this movie was finally released. The effects were good, and this movie is primarily black and white with splashes of color just like the first one. This movie was heavily stylized, violence level. In fact, it seemed over the top at times. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but it did have some Deadpool vibes. Deadpool has a tendency to get away with things like that whereas Sin City always seemed to be meant to be taken a little bit more seriously. Tone makes a difference. At times it seemed like A Dame To Kill For was more about the violence than it was the plot. There were storylines but the common thread seemed to be over the top violence. From an emotional standpoint, I was not able to feel anything toward any of the characters in anyway shape or form. That might be more a me thing, but I just did not feel anything at all toward any of the characters. I also got bored at times throughout the movie.
Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is an interesting movie that is over the top and heavily stylized. It has strong performances from a good ensemble and blends black and white and splashes of color well. The movie clocks in a little over a hundred minutes which felt slightly too long. Out of comic and graphic novel adaptations, this is not one of the best but it’s not one of the worst either.
Beetlejuice returns in the long awaited sequel to the original which came out in 1988. The film stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Arthur Conti, and Willem Dafoe.
I thought Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a fun movie. It captured the spirit of the original. The cast does a good job. Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara do a good job with revisiting their roles. Jenna Ortega fits in well as the daughter of Lydia Deetz played by Winona Ryder. The movie has a good story and doesn’t just play for nostalgia.
The movie is a little bloodier than the original. The original movie was rated PG while this one is rated PG-13. Things are a lot different now than they were when the original was released.
The music works well in the movie. Just like in the original there is a sequence when the characters are dancing and singing.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a fun movie with a great cast. The actors really do a good job in their roles. The music is fun and fits in with the movie and it has a good combination of nostalgia, while also pushing things forward.
Trap is about a father and daughter who go to a concert which is used as a setup to catch a killer. The film stars Josh Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Shyamalan, Alison Pill, Haley Mills, and Jonathan Langdon.
I thought Trap was decent. I was looking forward to seeing Trap when I saw the trailer for it. I was not disappointed, but I was not wowed either. I have not seen many of M. Night Shyamalan’s movies. I have only seen a few with mixed results. I did not care for Signs when I saw it. I was also a lot younger then. I thought it was boring. I enjoyed The Village, but I did not understand the twist. I was a teenager then. My mom had to explain the twist to me. I saw Lady in the Water and I don’t really remember my feelings on it. I saw the Las Airbender which I thought was good for what it was at the time. Trap is supposed to be a horror/thriller, and I was not really on the edge of my seat that much. It seemed a little bit too straight forward. M. Night Shyamalan has built a reputation for twist endings and twists in general. Trap did not really have many twists or game changing moments. The main twist is given away from the beginning, and it is also stated in the trailers. The whole premise of the movie is about Josh Hartnett’s character who is revealed early on to be the serial killer the Butcher. That is not really a spoiler since it’s in the trailers. The movie plays fairly straight forward after that reveal early on.
Josh Hartnett does a great job as Cooper who is a father and the Butcher. A big strong point of the film is the relationship between Cooper and his teenage daughter Riley played by Ariel Donoghue. Both characters have good chemistry. Another standout is Saleka Shyamalan, the daughter of M. Night Shyamalan, who plays singer Lady Raven. Another strong point of the movie is the music. The plot centers around Lady Raven’s concert. I thought that was a cool device used for the film. It was different.
The movie is a little under two hours. It is a good length. It doesn’t really drag. It is not necessarily as fast paced as I would have thought. I was expecting it to be a heart pounding experience, which it was not. Given the premise of the movie, the film felt fairly tame. There was not much character development either. There was a good dynamic between father and daughter but there was not much else.
Trap is a decent movie and doesn’t run too long. Josh Hartnett does a great job as does Saleka Shyamalan. The music really helped elevate the movie as well and it felt like being at a concert. The downside is that Trap does not really fit the genre it is marketed as. There were not many scares or thrills to categorize it as a horror or thriller.
Deadpool & Wolverine is the third movie in the Deadpool Franchise and the first in the MCU. The film sees Deadpool and Wolverine team up to save the multiverse. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, Stefan Kapicic, Lewis Tan, and Aaron Stanford.
I enjoyed Deadpool & Wolverine a lot. It is a lot of fun and is a wild ride. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman had great chemistry. The film stays true to the DNA of the previous Deadpool movies. It is violent, bloody, and has lots of language. Ryan Reynolds as usual does a great job as the character. Hugh Jackman does a great job as well as Wolverine. The rest of the cast does a good job as well. Emma Corrin is a standout as the villain Cassandra Nova.
There are tons of great action scenes and lots of surprises. A big part of the film is the fact that this is the first movie in the MCU. It does a great job being an MCU movie but also acknowledging where it came from when it was part of 20th Century Fox. The surprises are a lot of fun and the cast seemed to have a blast.
The costumes were really cool especially seeing Hugh Jackman in a comic accurate suite. As always, Deadpool had a good soundtrack. The songs fit the scenes well.
Deadpool & Wolverine has credit scenes. It has something during the credits which pays tribute to the past. It also has a proper end credit scene.
Deadpool & Wolverine is a fun MCU movie that honors its roots while carving a new future. It is a wild ride full of jokes and blood. It is one of the best recent Marvel movies yet and has a stellar cast with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman leading the charge. Deadpool & Wolverine does not disappoint, and it will be exciting to see where the characters go next.
We Are Your Friends was released in 2015. It bombed at the Box Office making only around 3 million in the U.S. Worldwide it made around 10 million. The movie is about an aspiring DJ and his group of friends who try to make it in their respective fields. The movie stars Zac Efron, Emily Ratajkowski, Jonny Weston, Shiloh Fernandez, Alex Shaffer, Jon Bernthal, and Wes Bentley.
I thought We Are Your Friends was a decent movie. It doesn’t have much of a plot. In this case that worked. The title is self-explanatory. The plot of the movie pretty much is about a group of friends. It has a good cast. Zac Efron really carries the movie. I think that helped make the movie what it was. The rest of the cast does a good job too.
I understand why We Are Your Friends bombed. When it was released, it was not marketed that well. I don’t think many people were aware the movie was even out or existed. Even if it had better marketing, I don’t think the film would have done much better. I think it is a bit too niche for mainstream audiences. The movie heavily deals with electronic dance music since the main character is an aspiring DJ. It is about that world. I think fans of that genre would probably find the film enjoyable. It is a tough sell for mainstream audiences. Zac Efron is a big name and at the time was a big name but that probably would not have been enough to draw a bigger audience in. His films have been hit or miss box office wise. High School Musical was successful. Two of the films in the series were TV movies and Hairspray was successful but that was also an ensemble where Zac Efron was not the lead. Charlie St. Cloud where Zac Efron was the lead didn’t do that well box office wise. Out of the cast for We Are Your Friends, Zac Efron is the biggest name in the cast.
What made We Are Your Friends a pleasant experience was the use of the dance music. I thought it was cool watching the scenes where Zac Efron’s character Cole is creating beats or performing at gigs. I enjoyed the soundtrack a lot, which was all dance music.
We Are Your Friends is a decent movie with a good cast. Zac Efron really elevates the movie, and the music is a lot of fun.
The Fall Guy is about a stuntman who has to find the missing lead actor of his ex-girlfriend’s movie. The movie stars Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer, and Stephanie Hsu.
I thought The Fall Guy was a good movie. It was fun. It is an action comedy. The movie had a lot of action scenes which were done well. I thought it was cool that the premise was about stuntmen. The scenes where Ryan Gosling’s character Colt Seavers was filming the stunt scenes were cool. There were some funny moments but there weren’t that many for me. The romance aspect was nice too, but it seemed to be a bit of a subplot. It wasn’t the main focus of the movie. I think that worked well for the movie.
The cast does a good job. The movie really belongs to Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. They have good chemistry together, but they stand out on their own as well. Ryan Gosling is a great leading man, and he did a great job as Colt Seavers. Emily Blunt also did a great job as Jody Moreno. I could see Emily Blunt direct a movie in her future if she wanted to. Jody was a strong character especially as a director of a big sci-fi movie. Aaron Taylor-Johnson did a good job as the movie star Tom Ryder. It was right in his wheelhouse of roles he has portrayed over the years. It was nice to see Winston Duke in a role outside of Marvel. I had not seen other projects the actor had been in. Winston Duke did a good job as Dan Tucker. He had a good dynamic with Ryan Gosling.
The movie has a good soundtrack. The music fits in well with the film. The movie has good pacing. It clocks in a little over two hours. It didn’t feel too long. It felt just right. Nothing really dragged. Things got going pretty quickly.
The Fall Guy is a fun action comedy that has a little bit of everything for everyone. It has a great cast with two great leads. It is a fun start to the summer movie season.
Into the Blue was released in the fall of 2005. The movie made around 18 million domestically. The movie is about four divers who go treasure hunting and get involved with drug dealers. The movie stars Paul Walker, Jessica Alba, Scott Caan, Ashley Scott, Josh Brolin, James Frain, Tyson Beckford, Dwayne Adway, Javon Frazer, and Chris Taloa.
Into the Blue was decent. It was kind of boring at times, but it picked up toward the end. It seemed like it took a little too long to get into the action. Paul Walker and Jessica Alba did a good job. The whole cast did a good job. Paul Walker and Jessica Alba really carried the movie, and they had good chemistry. Josh Brolin also did a good job in his role as well.
I am not that surprised Into the Blue bombed. From what I remember when it was advertised, it seemed kind of like a typical adventure movie. What might have helped the movie do better was if it was released in the summer instead of the end of September. It may not have been a huge hit, but it could have made more than the 18 million it accumulated at the box office. Sometimes a release date does matter for how a movie performs.
Into the Blue was a decent length. It seemed a little too long at parts, especially at the beginning. What made it tolerable was Paul Walker and Jessica Alba. Into the Blue probably could have been a little shorter. It also would have made a difference if the action kicked in a little sooner. It seemed it took a little too long to get into the main plot.
Into the Blue was a decent movie with a nice setting. It is a fairly light and typical treasure hunting action movie with a good cast. Paul Walker and Jessica Alba were the right choice to carry the film.
