Matchmaker Lucy is torn between her ex and a new suitor. The film stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Zoe Winters, and Marin Ireland.

I thought Materialists was a good movie. The three leads do a good job. Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans played their roles really well. Dakota Johnson also does a good job. The movie mostly relies on the three leads. There are other characters, but they are mostly background or window dressing so to speak.

This is the second A24 movie I have seen and the second I have seen in theaters. The first was Everything, Everywhere All At Once. As I have gotten older, I have become more open minded to different types of movies beyond major studio movies. I was never that interested in independent movies, but some catch my interest to check it out. What attracted me to the movie was the premise as well as Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans. They did not disappoint. I have seen Chris Evans in numerous things beyond his time as Captain America. It is always nice to see Chris Evans in different projects. I haven’t seen Pedro Pascal in that many things beyond The Mandalorian. I have not watched The Last of Us. It was nice to see Pedro Pascale in a different role. I thought Dakota Johnson did a good job.

The movie is fairly intimate which was nice to see. The three leads carry the movie well.

Materialists is a nice movie that has strong leads. It is a good counterbalance for the major studio summer blockbusters.
