F1: The Movie Review

Credits: Warner Brothers

Racer Sonny Hayes comes out of retirement to help out an old friend. The movie stars Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Sarah Niles, Samson Kayo, Kim Bodnia, Abdul Salis, Callie Cooke, Will Merrick, Joseph Balderrama, and Tobias Menzies.

I thought F1: The Movie was surprisingly really good. I did not have very high expectations. I saw it more just to see what the fuss was about. I did the same thing when I saw Top Gun: Maverick, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I saw F1 in IMAX and I thought the racing scenes were impressive. Brad Pitt and Damson Idris do a great job as their characters. The rest of the cast does a good job as well. Javier Bardem does a solid job in his role, and he was a little unrecognizable to me compared to other roles I have seen him in. There are some similarities to Top Gun: Maverick which would make sense since the director of F1 is Joseph Kosinski who also directed Top Gun: Maverick.

The plot of the movie is fairly simplistic, but I was really invested in the journeys of the characters. The main attraction of the movie is the racing sequences but there is a lot more beyond that. I enjoyed the dynamic between Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. Brad Pitt is the lead, but Damson Idris holds his own and I can see a bright future for him.

The music fits the movie and is catchy. It was known ahead of time that the film would have a soundtrack with big name artists. The soundtrack does not disappoint, and the songs fit well with the movie.

F1: The Movie is a fun summer racing movie that goes beyond racing. It has a stellar cat anchored by Brad Pitt and Damson Idris and the racing sequences are top notch.
