A year ago, I did a post asking if Avengers: The Kang Dynasty should be delayed? The movie was delayed as well as Avengers: Secret Wars. A lot has happened since then. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is now titled Avengers 5 for now. A new title will be revealed eventually. Avengers 5 is currently scheduled for May 1, 2026. The film is getting a massive revamp since Jonathon Majors has been removed from Marvel. It has not been stated if Kang will be recast or if a new villain will take over the role Kang would have had in the Multiverse Saga.

Marvel has had a tough go lately but has since gotten back on track. Echo did very well for Disney Plus. The animated series X-Men 97 was a huge success. There is a lot of anticipation for Deadpool and Wolverine which will be the only movie this year for Marvel. 2025 will see the release of Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four, and Blade. On the TV Side, Agatha All Along will premiere in September of this year. Daredevil: Born Again and Ironheart are set to premiere sometime in 2025.

Some Spoilers

Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars should be delayed again. The reason I say that is because I feel there is still too much ground to cover before those movies come out. There are still a lot of unresolved storylines that need to be resolved before the next big team up movie. Doctor Strange 3, Spider-Man 4, Shang-Chi 2, Eternals 2, and Thor 5 should be released before Avengers 5 and Secret Wars. Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is expected to play a massive role in the next Avengers movies. Multiverse of Madness left off with Doctor Strange entering another dimension with Clea (Charlize Theron). This needs to be explained before the next Avenger films. The same thing goes for Spider-Man (Tom Holland). No Way Home changed drastically for Peter Parker. A fourth film needs to happen to give the audience an update on Peter and where he is now in his life especially since no one knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Shang-Chi 2 technically can happen before or in between Avengers 5 and 6. To be honest, I think it is important to see Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) again before Avengers. There is always the chance he could appear in some of the other films or shows. If there are plans to include the Eternals in Avengers 5 or Secret Wars, the sequel needs to happen before those films. Eternals ended on multiple cliffhangers. There needs to be some explanation for how that gets resolved and it would be better if that were done in its own film instead of trying to cram it into Avengers 5 or 6. Thor 5 should happen before or in the middle of Avengers 5 and 6. The big thing is that I feel Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) should have their reunion in Thor 5 as opposed to Avengers 5 or another film or show. It does not sound like there will be a Loki season 3, which would be the only other place that would make the most sense for them to reunite.

This is just my opinion. I think there is still a lot of ground to cover before Avengers 5 and 6 happen. Secret Wars is expected to be massive, and it sounds like Avengers 5 will be massive as well with rumors suggesting there could be up to 60 Marvel characters in the film. I think Avengers 5 should be pushed back to May 2027 and Avengers: Secret Wars should be released in May 2028. That allows time for some of those other projects to happen beforehand.
