The Perfect Score Review

The Perfect Score was released in 2004 and is about six high school seniors who set out to steal the answers to the SAT. The movie stars Chris Evans, Bryan Greenberg, Scarlett Johansson, Erika Christensen, Darius Miles, Leonardo Nam, Matthew Lillard, and Tyra Ferrell.

The Perfect Score was an alright movie. It had a simplistic plot, and it was not anything unique. It was a typical teen comedy. The movie is nice and short, clocking in around 92 minutes. If it went any further, it would have felt tedious. The cast does a good job. Out of the six main characters the movie really belongs to Chris Evans, Bryan Greenberg, and Scarlett Johansson. The other characters get ample screen time. The Perfect Score came out several years before Scarlett Johansson went on to star as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was interesting seeing her in this especially since there was a scene that was a fantasy sequence that spoofed the slow-motion Trinity (Carrie Anne-Moss) sequence in the Matrix. This was also a year before Chris Evans starred as The Human Torch in Fantastic Four and then he went on to star as Captain American in the MCU. A few years prior Chris Evans starred in Not Another Teen Movie. Bryan Greenberg was on teen soap One Tree Hill when the movie was released. The three of them had a nice dynamic and there was a nice dynamic with all six of the main characters. That was really the only thing that made the movie tolerable.

The Perfect Score is supposed to be a heist comedy. It did have a heist, but I did not find the movie that funny. The movie was standard and typical. Other teen comedies have done it better. Other movies that were typical at least had a few funny moments. This lacked a lot of them. I did not laugh at all during the movie.

The Perfect Score is a typical teen movie that adds nothing new to the genre. What makes it tolerable is the likability of the cast as well as the fact the movie is a nice length.
