
Cher’s album Closer to the Truth was released on September 20th, 2013. It was Cher’s first album since Living Proof which came out in 2002. Closer to the Truth was Cher’s musical comeback again. She has had several over the decades. Closer to the Truth debuted at number 3 on the Billboard Albums Chart.
Closer to the Truth is a great solid Cher album. It heavily leaned toward dance music. The lead single was Woman’s World which is a great track. The album showcases the many sides of Cher. My Love is both a dance song and a ballad. Take It Like a Man is a great upbeat song. Sirens is a somber ballad. I Walk Alone has a little bit of country mixed in. By this point in time Cher had established herself as a legend. She found success in music and acting. Prior to the album Cher made her acting comeback in the musical Burlesque. One the deluxe version of Closer to the Truth, You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me from Burlesque is on the album. None of the songs charted on the Billboard Hot 100. Believe is still Cher’s biggest success chart wise having peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Closer to the Truth is a great album. There are a lot of great songs on the album adding to a long list of Cher’s songs. It will be interesting to see what Cher will do next. Since Closer to the Truth was released Cher released another album, a cover of ABBA’s music related to her appearing in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. It has also been said that Cher has new albums coming out as well as some films in the future. It will be exciting to see what Cher will do next.
