The Jonas Brother’s album A Little Bit Longer came out on August 12th, 2008. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Chart. Burnin Up is their most successful single from the album peaking at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Lovebug was another single that was not as big as Burnin Up.

A Little Bit Longer came out during the peak of the Jonas Brothers craze. The Jonas Brothers blew up with their hit songs When You Look Me in the Eyes and S.O.S. from their previous self-titled album. They were the big boy band of the moment. This was a few years before One Direction entered the picture and a few years after Backstreet Boys and NSYNC’s successful runs.

A Little Bit Longer as a whole is a solid album. It’s different than a lot of other boy band albums. The early albums for the Jonas Brothers leaned a little more pop rock especially compared to the sound of their later albums. Burnin Up was the most successful song from the album and the only song to get decent radio airplay. Lovebug is a popular track amongst the fans. Both songs are good in their own right. Burnin Up is catchy and Lovebug is a nice sweet song. The other tracks are good too and the album works well sonically. Rock suits the Jonas Brothers well. It is understandable that the album did not have many hit singles given the Jonas Brothers’ association with Disney as well as the fact that radio was leaning more toward pop and dance music as seen by the hit songs by Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, P!nk, Britney Spears, Rihanna, and many others. Boy Bands also have a short shelf life. NSYNC had a great run but only lasted a couple of years. Same for One Direction who would enter the picture a few years later.

A Little Bit Longer was successful and went platinum following in the footsteps of fellow Disney Star Miley Cyrus. The Jonas Brothers went on to continue to have a successful career including successful solo endeavors by Nick Jonas and Joe Jonas. It will be interesting to see if at some point down the line the Jonas Brothers will do another album that is more rock heavy compared to their recent albums which leaned more pop.
