Katy Perry’s debut album One of the Boys was released on June 17^th, 2008, and had four hit singles. The album did very well. Katy Perry has had five albums currently. It sounds like a sixth one is on the way at some point.

One of the Boys is a solid debut album that leans more pop rock. The standout tracks happen to be the ones that were the hits which include the controversial and number one song I Kissed a Girl, the smash hit Hot N Cold which was accompanied by a wedding revenge themed music video, the ballad Thinking of You, and the top ten hit, Waking Up in Vegas. Hot N Cold also hit the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100. One of the Boys had three top ten songs which is impressive for a debut album. For every artist that achieves that, there are many who do not. It is especially impressive for Katy Perry to achieve four hit songs off her debut because at the time, most thought she’d be a one hit wonder. When I Kissed a Girl blew up, many believed that she would peak with that song. Katy Perry proved skeptics wrong. She also went on to become even bigger when her second album Teenage Dream came out.

A lot of the deep cuts on the album are solid but they do slightly blend together. They do not necessarily stand out as much as the songs that were the singles. Nevertheless, One of the Boys is a solid debut album and gave audiences Katy Perry who would go on to become a huge pop star in the years to come. I Kissed a Girl and Hot N Cold have become classics in Katy Perry’s catalogue which would be joined by many others down the line.
