The Flash is about Barry Allen who goes back in time to save his mother which changes the timeline. The film stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Kiersey Clemons, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, and Michael Shannon.
I enjoyed The Flash. I thought it was a good movie. It is a fun movie, and it gets pretty intense later on. Ezra Miller does a good job as Barry Allen and The Flash. This is Ezra Miller’s first solo movie with the last time The Flash was last seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. It was nice to see Michael Keaton back as Batman. He did a good job in the role. I saw Tim Burton’s Batman films years ago. I don’t remember Batman that well. I remember Batman Returns more. Batman Returns was the last time Michael Keaton was Batman. Sasha Calle did a good job as Supergirl. I don’t know if she will keep the role in the DCU. It has not been said if she is a contender for Supergirl or if they are going in a different direction. The rest of the cast did a good job. A lot of the other characters had smaller roles.
The Flash is a good standalone movie. There are some references to the DECEU but it is fairly a self-contained story. General Zod’s attack in Man of Steel is the only major event that is dealt with in the movie. The only other connections to the DCEU are the fact that some of the characters were in prior movies such as Barry Allen, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Jeremy Iron’s Alfred and others.
One thing that was a little confusing was how The Flash deals with the multiverse. I felt a little more time could have been spent on that aspect. It is hard not to make comparisons, but I felt the multiverse was handled a little better on the CW show, The Flash and the Arrowverse as a whole. The movie has cameos, but it is not as many as people might think. It was heavily mentioned prior to the film coming out that there would be many cameos. There are some but there are not many.
If there is a Flash 2, I am not sure how they would handle it. I know it was said a script has been written for Flash 2. This was also before James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU was announced. The chances that script will be used are fairly slim.
The Flash has a post credit scene at the very end of the credits. The Flash is a good standalone movie with a mix of action and humor. It is also one of the final films in the DCEU that was launched with Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman.
