Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse sees the fate of the multiverse in danger and Miles Morales and others have to save it. The film stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Jake Johnson, Oscar Isaac, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, and Jason Schwartzman.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a great movie. It’s just as good as Into the Spider-Verse. It has a great soundtrack. The music this time around is a different vibe than the first one and I think it really fits the movie. Across the Spider-Verse is bigger in multiple ways. It is longer clocking in at two hours and twenty minutes. It has a ton of Spider People. There are many Earths that appear in the movie. The stakes are substantially higher. The multiverse was in danger in the first movie. This time around the multiverse is in bigger danger.

There is a lot more screen time for Gwen Stacy this time. More time is spent on Gwen’s story. Miles Morales is still the heart of the movie. This movie feels more emotional than the last one. There are several parts that really tug at the heartstrings. Across the Spider-Verse seems to dive more into Miles and his family dynamic. There is a solid story beyond the fact the multiverse is in danger. There are a lot of good character moments as well especially for Miles and his family.

There are a lot of new characters. Oscar Isaac does a great job as Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099. Issa Rae also does a good job as Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman. Jason Schwartzman does a good job as The Spot. There are tons of other new characters that all add something to the movie. The movie also features a lot of fun references and surprises.

The movie is visually unique. Different animation styles are used, and they are used effectively. Different worlds have unique styles. The movie also captures the comic book feeling really well which was a strong suit from Into the Spider-Verse.

Across the Spider-Verse gets intense especially toward the end. The stakes are really amped up this time around. The movie sets up for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse which is currently set to release in March 2024. There is a little something after the main credits roll at the end of the movie but there are no mid or post credit scenes.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a great sequel and really ups the ante. The cast does a great job. The movie is full of heart and action. It is both funny and emotional and gets intense at times. I am looking forward to Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and am excited to see how everything will play out.
