Best Arrowverse Crossovers

The Flash just recently ended and with the end of The Flash also marks the end of the Arrowverse. Here is a ranking of the Arrowverse Crossovers.

6. Legends of Today/Legends of Yesterday

Thea Queen (Willa Holland), The Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), The Flash (Grant Gustin), Spartan (David Ramsey), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), and Hawkman (Faulk Hentschel) in Legends of Today Credit: Warner Brothers

The second crossover between Arrow and The Flash. This set up the spinoff DC’s Legends of Tomorrow that premiered in January 2016. It starred Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renee) and Carter Hall (Faulk Hentschel). Kendra was dating Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) during the first part of season 2 of The Flash. Kendra learned in the crossover that she was Hawkgirl and she was destined to be with Carter who is Hawkman.  Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) was after them. Vandal Savage was the primary villain in the first season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. This ranks last only because some of the other crossovers stand out more. This still was enjoyable. This was also the last crossover to only feature The Flash and Arrow groups with the following crossovers to include more shows.

5. Invasion!

This was the first crossover to feature the Legends and Supergirl. The plot saw the Dominators invade Earth. Part 2 of Invasion! was the 100th episode for Arrow and did a good job at being a celebration of Arrow as well as being a part of a crossover event. It’s a good crossover.

4. Elseworlds

This was fun and introduced Batwoman played by Ruby Rose. It also gave us the first look at Gotham, which was only referenced but never seen. The crossover primarily focused on Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) who switched bodies which provided a lot of fun moments. Oliver was more lighthearted while Barry was more broody and the audience got to see Oliver as The Flash and Barry as the Green Arrow. Besides introducing Batwoman, Elseworlds also introduced Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Oliver and Barry got to meet Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). Superman was last seen in a few episodes of Supergirl. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) got to meet Batwoman alongside Oliver and Barry. Elseworlds also introduced The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) who would play a major role in Crisis on Infinite Earths. The end of the crossover also revealed the next crossover was going to be Crisis on Infinite Earths.

3. Flash vs Arrow/The Brave and the Bold

The very first crossover between Arrow and The Flash. This ranks high mostly because it was the start of the crossovers that were annual for many years. The Flash and Arrow had a decent number of crossovers during The Flash’s first year. Characters would show up in each other’s shows. That changed in the following years. There is something nice about the early days of the Arrowverse. The crossover got to show Barry and Oliver face each other for the first time. The audience also got an enraged Barry Allen after being mind controlled by a metahuman with the abilities to send people in an uncontrollable rage.

2. Crisis on Earth X

The first crossover to span all four shows Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Even Elsewards only covered Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. This did not disappoint. Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) had a superhero studded wedding. The Legends were there. Team Arrow was there. Supergirl was there. The wedding got disrupted by nazis. A group of heroes were stuck on Earth-X. There was an evil Green Arrow and evil Supergirl. Tom Cavanagh found his way back as Reverse Flash. The crossover ended with both Barry and Iris and Oliver and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) tying the knot which also means they have the same wedding anniversaries.

1. Crisis on Infinite Earths

Everything led to this. Crisis on Infinite Earths is the Avengers: Endgame to the Arrowverse. This spanned five shows including DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. It was stock full of surprises. Ashley Scott reprised her role as the Huntress from the short-lived WB show Birds of Prey. Kevin Conroy got to play a live version of an older Bruce Wayne. Ezra Miller made a surprise appearance as the DCEU’s Barry Allen where he met the Arrowverse Barry Allen. Tom Welling and Erica Durance reprised their roles as Clark Kent and Lois Lane from Smallville. Stakes were high. Worlds were destroyed. The crossover was split in two parts. The first three episodes aired before Christmas. The last two episodes aired in mid January. Audiences had to wait a month to see how it all played out. Oliver Queen died so the others could live. This changed the Arrowverse forever. It was well worth the buildup.
