In honor of The Flash ending on Wednesday May 24th, here is a look at Harrison Wells’ journey. MASSIVE SPOILERS.
Tom Cavanagh has gotten the privilege of playing multiple Wells throughout the series. Tom Cavanagh was a series regular from the beginning. Harrison Wells worked at S.T.A.R. Labs and mentored Cisco Ramone (Carlos Valdes), Caitlyn Snow (Danielle Panabaker), and Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell). The Particle Accelerator led to the birth of metahumans, killed Ronnie who was Caitlyn’s boyfriend, and led to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) getting struck by lightening which put him into a coma. When Barry woke up, he had speedster powers and went on to become The Flash. He was mentored by Harrison Wells. Later in season 1 it was revealed that Harrison Wells was Reverse Flash. After that it was revealed that Harrison Wells was really Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher). Eobard killed the real Wells and had taken Wells’ form. By the end of season 1 Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) killed himself in order to erase Thawne from the timeline.

In Season 2, Harrison Wells from Earth-2 arrived. Team Flash was hesitant to trust him because of what happened with the other Wells. Overtime Harry became a member of Team Flash. He was able to make amends with his daughter Jesse Wells (Violet Beane) who went to become the hero Jesse Quick who was a speedster. He also became close with Cisco.

At the beginning of season 3, Harry went home to Earth-2 and Harrison H.R. Wells from Earth-19 joined Team Flash. HR mentored Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) after he became a speedster. HR helped Team Flash fight Savitar. HR made the ultimate sacrifice by switching places with Iris West (Candice Patton) when Savitar went to kill her. Instead of Iris, it was revealed to be HR who was disguised as Iris. The real Iris was disguised as HR. HR died and Harry from Earth-2 returned.
In Season 4, Harry helped Team Flash fight the Thinker (Neil Sandlands). Harry also reached out to the other Wells throughout the multiverse and formed the Council of Wells. In an attempt to stop The Thinker, Harry built a contraption to make him stronger. It wound up taking down his high IQ. By the end Harry chose to go home to Earth-2.

In season 5 Sherloque Wells arrived on the scene. He helped Team Flash fight Cicada (Chris Klein). Sherloque took an interest in Nora West Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy) who is the future daughter of Barry and Iris. She is from 2049. Eventually Sherloque was able to solve the mystery that Nora was being mentored by Eobard Thawne in 2049 who was sentenced to death. He was in prison and had ulterior motives to escape his fate. Sherloque went home after his job was done.

In Season 6 Harrison Nash Wells arrived. Nash was a geologist and myth buster. He was seeking something very important on their Earth. He was a key part of Crisis on Infinite Earths where he became Pariah after being tricked by the Ant-Monitor (LaMonica Garrett). After the Crisis was over and the Multiverse was destroyed, Nash was the only Wells left with all prior absorbed into him. This also led to Nash being able to see the others Wells. Nash took an interest in Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton) who had resembled someone from his past. Eventually Allegra and Nash were able to bond. At the beginning of Season 7 Nash sacrificed himself in order to protect Team Flash. His sacrifice led to the original Harrison Wells to be brought back from the dead. Harrison helped Team Flash and went on to live a new life and adjust to being alive again.
After the Original Wells left, that was the end of the Wells’. Tom Cavanagh would go on to reprise his role as Eobard Thawne, but he was no longer a series regular. It will be interesting to see if any of the Wells will make an appearance in the series finale. It definitely has been a wild ride for Tom Cavanagh and the Wells of the multiverse.
