Madonna’s album Hard Candy was released on April 19^th, 2008. Hard Candy was another number one album for Madonna. It spawned the smash hit single 4 Minutes which features Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. 4 Minutes hit the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100. Madonna dominated in the 80s and 90s. She was very active in the 2000s dropping four studio albums with Hard Candy being the fourth. She also released another greatest hits compilation that was released in 2009.

Hard Candy is another solid album that focuses again on dance music which Madonna was becoming known for after several of her albums. This followed her dance album, Confessions on a Dancefloor. Besides 4 Minutes, Beat Goes On is another collaboration that features Kanye West. 4 Minutes was the only collaboration that was a single. 4 Minutes is also Madonna’s only hit song from Hard Candy. Madonna released two other singles, Give it 2 Me, and Miles Away that did not have chart success. 4 Minutes peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was a huge hit on radio. 4 Minutes became Madonna’s 37^th Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. To date, 4 Minutes is one of Madonna’s last hit singles. Subsequent albums had more singles, but none found the chart success or radio airplay that 4 Minutes had achieved.

Personally, I wish the album was able to spawn some more hit singles but that does not change the fact that it is a solid album. It has good songs. It is another example of Madonna doing what Madonna does best which is Madonna being Madonna. Madonna has found success with many styles of music over the years. It seems her bread and butter and her winning formula happen to fall on the dance floor. There is a reason why Madonna is the Queen of Pop, and this just adds to that.
