Kung Fu wrapped up Season 3 in March and is waiting to find out if it will be renewed for Season 4. Currently the CW has only renewed All American for a sixth season. It was said that the season 3 finale of Kung Fu could function as a series finale. I think there is still a lot of story left to tell. Kung Fu should be able to go on for a few more seasons. Season 3 may have been the end of the current story but I think there are a lot more stories to tell. Kung Fu is a fun show with a great cast. Besides the show being about Kung Fu, it is also about family. It has great action sequences, some fantastical elements, and it is both heartwarming and thrilling.

Even if Season 3 can function as a series ender, there were things left open ended enough to continue for another season. Kung Fu was one of three freshman series that premiered with over a million viewers. The other two shows were Walker and Superman & Lois. All three of those shows are currently on and also waiting to get renewed. If Kung Fu gets renewed, it would become one of the CW’s current oldest shows on the network only behind All American that will be in its sixth season. If Walker and Superman & Lois get renewed, they would join the club as well. There are not many martial arts shows on television. Kung Fu is the only martial arts show on the main networks. It deserves to keep going and get a proper final season when the time comes.

A lot is in flux since Nextstar purchased the CW. There is a chance that in a few years there may not be scripted shows on the network at all. Kung Fu deserves to be one of the shows that lasts on the CW until they decide to get rid of scripted shows altogether. Riverdale, The Flash, and Nancy Drew are ending this year which opens up some time slots. I am not sure how much longer All American will go on past Season 6 and this upcoming season could end up being its final season. There already are not many shows left. There is room for Kung Fu to remain on the network. Even if the CW does not want to keep Kung Fu for much longer, at the very least Kung Fu should be renewed for a fourth and final season. The Flash, Riverdale, and Nancy Drew have known that their current seasons would be the final seasons and were able to market it as such. Nancy Drew will be premiering in May. Kung Fu should be allowed to do the same. With that being said, I personally feel there is a lot left in Kung Fu and it could go on for a few more years. I could see it lasting into a season 6 minimally. I could also see it making it longer as well. It really would depend on what stories the show wants to tell.
