The only CW show currently renewed is All American. Every other show is waiting to get renewed. All American: Homecoming is a spinoff of All American. There are links to All American. The main character of the show Simone Hicks (Geffri Hightower) came from All American where she dated Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling) one of the main characters from All American. There are crossovers once and awhile, but it is fairly easy to follow for anybody who did not and does not watch All American.

All American is the only show that got renewed so far for the CW. All American does very well in streaming. After its first season hit Netflix, it got a boost in the ratings. A lot has changed in the ratings landscape for television in general. All American and All American Homecoming have low numbers but are both fairly popular when factoring streaming. All American will be entering its sixth season. I’m not sure how much longer the show will last, especially since the CW seems to be pivoting away from scripted shows. It axed a ton of shows last year and several more shows are in their finals seasons this year.

All American: Homecoming has a lot of life left in it. It just wrapped up its second season. It ended on a cliffhanger which I would like to see resolved. Now, worst case scenario, should All American: Homecoming get cancelled it could wrap up the cliffhanger on All American.  With that being said, I still want the show to get renewed where it can deal with the results of the cliffhanger. Whereas All American focuses primarily on football since most of the main characters play the sport, All American: Homecoming covers tennis and baseball. Simone is a tennis player and Damon Sims (Peyton Alex Smith) is a baseball player and a possible romantic love interest for Simone. All American is not just a football show but football is the main sport of that show. All American: Homecoming covers different sports among other things. All American: Homecoming has a good cast of characters. There has been a lot of growth within the past two seasons. It would be nice to see that continue. All American: Homecoming’s setting is Bringston University. I’m not sure if the plan for the show is to end once the characters graduate college or if it could go beyond that. Season 2 wrapped up freshman year for the characters. Season 1 was one semester while season 2 was the other. If they go that route, that would mean the show could last into a season 8. The show could still go to a season 8 if they want to follow the characters after college. Beverly Hills 90210 started out in high school and followed the characters to college and then post college. One Tree Hill and Pretty Little Liars time jumped over the college years altogether. The difference with those shows and All American is that they started out as high school shows. All American: Homecoming started out as a college show. Greek was a college show and did not follow the characters after college. I think there is a lot of story left to tell beyond college but it is up to the showrunners. Either way I think All American Homecoming should get renewed and that the show should get to tell the story it wants to tell.
