Evanescence: Fallen 20th Anniversary

Evanescence’s debut album Fallen recently turned 20. The album came out on March 4th, 2003. It’s hard to believe that it’s already been 20 years since it dropped. Evanescence’s breakout hit was Bring Me to Life which was associated with the Daredevil movie. It was featured in the promos, and it was part of the soundtrack. I was 12 at the time that this album dropped. I enjoyed Bring Me to Life a lot. I liked the intensity of it. My first association with the song was the trailers for Daredevil. Twenty years later, I still think Bring Me to Life is a great song and is one of their best. Evanescence has other great songs. My Immortal is another one. My Immortal and Bring Me to Life area two of Evanescence’s biggest hits. Both were on their debut album which was a huge success for them. Evanescence has a solid debut album. A lot of their songs are moody and cinematic. Haunted is appropriately haunting. Going Under is a strong launch to the album. Evanescence is a unique band and there are not many like them today. I hope one day more songs like theirs will enter the mainstream again. Bring Me to Life and My Immortal both hit the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and both are their longest charting songs, with each song lasting 32 weeks. Fallen debuted at number 3 on Billboard 200 and lasted 114 weeks, their longest charting album. The album has achieved multiplatinum status selling over 17 million copies worldwide. Maybe some of these songs will find new life. With TikTok huge these days, anything is possible. Just look at all the songs that have found a second life.
