What Shows Will Get Renewed? Part 4 FOX

It’s almost March and at this point only CBS has given early renewals to a handful of shows. The CW has only renewed one show, All American. ABC just announced that The Goldbergs current season will be its final season. It is currently in season 10. What shows have a shot of getting renewed? This will be a multi part post. The focus today will be FOX.

Fox has announced some early renewals. The animated shows including Grimsburg and Krapolis which have yet to premiere have all been renewed. Monarch, which premiered in the fall, has already been canceled after one season.

Bob’s Burger

Renewed up to season 15. This will last until the producers don’t want to do it anymore.

Family Guy

Renewed up to season 23. This will last until Seth McFarlane doesn’t want to do it anymore.

Grimsburg

Already renewed for season 2. Does not have a premiere date yet for its first season. Not sure if this will last beyond a second season.

Krapopolis

Already renewed for season 2 and season 3. Does not have a premiere date yet for its first season. Not sure if this will last beyond a third season.

The Simpsons

Renewed for season 35 & season 36. This will end when the showrunners and cast get tired of doing it. At this point they may just want to make it to an even 40 or even 50 and call it a day.

The Great North

Renewed for season 4. This will probably last for a few more years. I am not sure if it will last as long as some The Simpsons, Family Guy, or Bob’s Burgers.

The Cleaning Lady

Renewed for season 3. If it performs the same as is did this past season it will probably last a few more seasons.

Hell’s Kitchen

Credit FOX

Renewed for season 22. This will continue until Gordon Ramsay decides to end it.

9-1-1

Credit FOX

Currently in season 6. It will probably get renewed for season 7. This still does well. I see it lasting a few more seasons.

9-1-1: Lone Star

Credit FOX

Currently in season 4. It will probably get renewed for season 5. FOX is going to want to hold on to the 9-1-1 franchise for as long as possible. As long as this remains consistent it will be on for many more years.

Call Me Kat

Credit FOX

Currently in season 3. This can go either way. It could get renewed for season 4 or it could end this season.

Fantasy Island

Credit FOX

Currently in season 2. It will probably get cancelled. The only way I could see it getting renewed is if FOX wants to have it as a summer series.

The Resident

Credit FOX

Wrapped up season 6. It has a decent shot at getting renewed. Given it has lasted this long if anything it could get a seventh and final season. It still performs well so this could go on for a few more years.

The Masked Singer

Credit FOX

Currently in season 9. This will probably get renewed for season 10. This will last for a few more years. FOX is not going to get rid of this anytime soon.

Next Level Chef

Credit FOX

Currently in season 2. It will probably get renewed for a third season.

Welcome to Flatch

Credit FOX

Wrapped up season 2. It could go either way. It will either get renewed for season 3 or it will get axed. It will depend on what FOX wants to do with their live sitcoms.

Accused

Credit FOX

Currently in its first season. It will probably get cancelled. It is an anthology series but does not have buzz the way others do like American Horror Story.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit

Credit FOX

Just wrapped its first season. It will probably get cancelled. I see FOX wanting to give the slot to a new show.

Animal Control

Currently in its first season. If FOX keeps Welcome to Flatch and Call Me Kat, this will probably get cancelled. If FOX gets rid of one or both of those shows this could have a shot at getting renewed.

FOX has a decent number of shows renewed already. There are also a fair number of shows waiting for renewals. The biggest questions fall on The Resident and the sitcoms. It’s a pretty safe bet that 9-1-1 and 9-1-1 Lonestar will be back. The Resident has achieved 100 episodes. It still performs well when compared to the other shows on the network. Unlike other hospital shows, specifically Grey’s Anatomy and ER, The Resident has maintained most of its cast only losing two original cast members. Morris Chestnut who joined the show in season 3 left at the end of season 4. If Grey’s Anatomy which is currently in season 19 and ER which lasted 15 seasons continued with major cast changes, The Resident should be able to hold on for a little while longer with its cast intact. Grey’s Anatomy is down to two original stars with Ellen Popmpeo, the title character and star of the show having just recently departed the series. ER lost all of its original cast members with Noah Wyle the longest one lasting 11 seasons. The Resident actually could go on for a few more years as long as the stars still want to do it. The sitcoms are a different question. I don’t know if FOX wants to keep its sitcoms or get rid of them altogether. If they want to keep them, then Call Me Kat and Welcome to Flatch have a good shot at renewals. If it comes down to FOX only keeping one and using that to launch another sitcom, I think Call Me Kat would have the edge given it is currently in season 3. It has been on a little longer than Welcome to Flatch which wrapped up season 2. In more recent years FOX has backed off sitcoms relying more on dramas and reality shows and its Sunday Animation Domination. All will be revealed in May.
