80 For Brady is a comedy about four friends who are big Tom Brady fans and decide to go to the Superbowl. The film stars Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Sally Field, Rita Moreno, and Tom Brady. The movie was produced by Tom Brady and is loosely based on a true story about four women who formed an “Over 80 for Brady” club. 80 For Brady opened last weekend and is so far doing fairly decently. The Superbowl is this Sunday so it will be interesting to see how the movie performs afterward.
I enjoyed 80 for Brady. It has a great cast, and it is a fun and funny movie. All four of the legendary actresses did a good job. Their characters all had distinctive personalities and played to their strengths. This movie is similar to Book Club which also starred Jane Fonda. I think anyone who has seen a commercial for 80 for Brady would have made the comparisons to Book Club which is a movie about four older women who spice up their lives after reading Fifty Shades of Grey. Yes, both movies have similarities. I enjoyed Book Club. I enjoyed this. Book Club was enjoyable and fun as well. These movies rely the most on the group of friends. 80 For Brady has a strong quartet. There were a lot of group scenes together. Sometimes these premises go the opposite where the group of friends are hardly together.
Guy Fieri appears in the movie which was seen in the trailer. He added to the fun of the movie which also included appearances by Rob Gronkowski and Billy Porter. They did not have big parts. Out of the three, Billy Porter is the only one who played a character and not himself.
Spoiler Alert
There were other fun appearances and of course Tom Brady made an appearance. Tom Brady is in the movie, but he does not have a big role. He only has a little bit of actual screentime. He does appear once the movie gets to the big game. He had a nice scene toward the end where he got to meet one of the women.
The movie has a lot of heart which is why this was an enjoyable movie. It does get a little emotional later in the movie when the real reason why going to the Superbowl was so important to one of the women is revealed.
80 for Brady is a fun and funny movie and has a lot of heart. It has a great quartet of legends and it was nice to see them have fun. I also am happy I saw this before the Superbowl on Sunday. It kind of kicked off Superbowl weekend for me and I am only excited for the Superbowl to see Rihanna perform at the Halftime Show.
