Since its January, that means it’s the start of a brand-new year. There is still time for me to put out what I am looking forward to seeing for 2023.
Ant-Man & the Wasp Quantumania February 17

I am a huge Marvel fan and very excited for this one especially after the recent trailer dropped. It has got me hyped even more. This is the kickoff to Phase 5 and the proper introduction to the villain for the Multiverse Saga Kang the Conqueror played by Jonathan Majors. For Marvel fans, we have met a variant of Kang already in the form of He Who Remains who appeared in the season finale of Loki. As the trailer states, this will be the birth of a new dynasty. In May 2025 Avengers: Kang Dynasty comes out which this movie will heavily set the stage for. I am very excited to see all the surprises Marvel has in store for us. The film already looks different than the prior Ant-Man movies. This movie will have major ramifications for the future of the MCU and I cannot wait.
The Film Stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Jonathan Majors, Kathryn Newton, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Bill Murray, & Randall Park
Scream VI March 10

I have enjoyed all the Scream movies and I am very excited to see what they do with this one. This is also the first movie to move out of Woodsboro and move to New York City. Since this is the final film, I wonder who will make it out alive? Could they make a bold move and have no survivors? We just have to wait until March to find out. I do want to know how they will explain Neve Campbell’s absence since it was announced she will not be reprising her role as Sydney Prescott due to a pay disparity.
The Film Stars Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Courtney Cox, Jasmine Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Tony Revolori, & Josh Segarra
Shazam! Fury of the Gods March 17

I enjoyed the first Shazam! so I am looking forward to this one. It looks like it will be fun. I am curious how this will factor into the bigger DCU especially now that the DCU is getting a makeover.
The Film Stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, Djimon Hounsou, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Grace Carolina Currey, Meagan Good, Rachel Zegler, Ross Butler, & D.J. Cotrona
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves March 31

After seeing the trailers for this, this movie looks like it could be a lot of fun and it has a likeable cast. This is a movie I definitely will check out. I think I will be pleasantly surprised. I would like to see a movie that is fun and this definitely looks like it will fit the bill.
The Film Stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Rege-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, & Hugh Grant
The Super Mario Bros Movie April 7

I have played the games. I had Nintendo 64 and played Super Mario and have played several of the Mario Party games and the Mario Kart games. The original is my absolute favorite. I have been excited for this movie since it was announced years ago. Once the first trailer came out, I got more pumped for the movie. After the second trailer came out, I was even more excited. I do have high expectations, but the movie looks really good. I never saw the live version that was done years ago but I have heard about it, and I have seen the trailer for that movie. This movie looks like it will match the spirit of the games. I cannot wait for it. If this goes well, this could lead to an NCU (Nintendo Cinematic Universe) and I would definitely not be mad about that.
The Film Stars Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Seth Rogan, & Keegan Michael-Key
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 May 5

This is supposed to be the final chapter in this iteration of the Guardians team. I am sure some of them will survive the movie and help take part in the upcoming Avengers movies but who that will be is unknown. The first trailer has teased a darker movie this time around. James Gunn himself has teased that it is heavier than the prior films. I have no problems with that. I am excited for how this trilogy will conclude and what will become of all of the characters. We will also get Will Poulter as Adam Warlock who was teased in a credit scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He looks good from the brief scene in the trailer of him.
The Film Stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Sean Gunn, Will Poulter, & Chukwudi Iwuji
Fast X May 19
The Fast and The Furious films have gotten bigger and crazier, and they have been a lot of fun as well as having a likeable cast of characters. This is the penultimate chapter before the final film Fast 11 comes out. I am looking forward to getting the first trailer which should be dropping on Superbowl Sunday. I cannot wait to see this movie and see what they do next.
The Film Stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, & Scott Eastwood
Little Mermaid May 26

I have enjoyed the live versions of Disney’s animated movies for the most part. Some were better than others, but Little Mermaid is one of my favorite Disney movies and I think there is a lot of promise for this movie. I am most excited to see Melissa McCarthy’s interpretation of Ursula, the Seas Witch. I am looking forward to seeing the musical numbers brought to life.
The Film Stars Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy, Awkwafina, & Javier Bardem
Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse June 2

I enjoyed Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse a lot when it came out in 2018. I am very curious to see where they take this next.
The Film Stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Jake Johnson, & Issa Rae
Barbie July 21

I was already looking forward to this movie once the cast was announced for it. Once the first teaser dropped and I got to see a glimpse of what the movie looks like, it made me more excited to see the movie. It looks like it will be a fun summer movie. I like the colors that are being used as well. It looks very bright.
The Film Stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, & Michael Cera
The Marvels July 28

Anything Marvel I will show up. I cannot wait to see how The Marvels fits into the Multiverse Saga and how this connects to the other projects. I am most ecstatic to see Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani work together as Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeu, and Ms. Marvel. It will also be nice to see Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury again.
The Film Stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, & Samuel L. Jackson
Haunted Mansion August 11

I am curious how this version will be compared to the last time they did it which was in 2003 and starred Eddie Murphy. I was not the biggest fan of the original movie so I am hopeful this one will be better. It does have a promising cast.
The Film Stars Owen Wilson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto, Tiffany Haddish, Rosario Dawson, & LaKeith Stanfield
The Hunger-Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes November 17
I loved the Hunger Games and enjoyed the movies very much. I read the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and I am excited to see how they bring the book to life.
The Film Stars Hunter Schafer, Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, Rachel Ziegler, & Jason Schwartzman
